Background & Experience

Acutus is a specialist construction consultancy. We provide expert strategic and commercial advice to all players in the engineering and construction industry. Our staff have been appointed as construction experts in the civil engineering and building industry on many occasions. Our personnel have provided expert and tactical advice to over one hundred firms and organisations in many countries. We get involved at all stages of construction.

Acutus has a strong technical bias in engineering and building matters which is supported by sophisticated commercial and quantity surveying expertise.

Planning

We are a leading consultancy in the provision of practical construction planning and programming solutions. We provide strategic and tactical advice to Contractors and Employers alike. We can assist throughout the construction cycle, from tender documentation stage through to claim preparation or response on live projects and post contract disputes.

We have extensive experience in dealing with complex matters of delay and disruption in all dispute resolution forums from adjudication to arbitration and litigation. Additionally many of the projects in which we become involved are disposed of in negotiated settlements or mediation.

Our personnel are regularly appointed by solicitors, arbitrators and adjudicators seeking independent and impartial programming advice.

We take pride in our attention to detail and our findings are often communicated graphically to great effect. This greatly assists all parties to the dispute including those charged with decision making.

We are fully conversant with all delay analysis methodologies and, as importantly, when it is appropriate or inappropriate to use them.

Quantum

Acutus’ quantity surveyors provide stand-alone commercial advice and, where appropriate, support to the planning and programming services.

Our personnel have extensive experience and a proven track record in dealing with difficult contractual matters under all major standard forms.

Acutus staff have been appointed as Quantum Experts on a variety of engineering and building disputes and have testified in litigation as well other dispute forums such as mediation and adjudication.

All surveying staff have a background in contracting and hold dual qualifications (e.g. in law and surveying)
